The Borough of Topton, a community of approximately 2,041 residents in Berks County, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified applicants for its Administrative Assistant position. The Administrative Assistant plays an integral role in the customer service and organizational strength of the Borough’s operations. This position will require maintaining legally required files, attendance at Council meetings with preparation of agendas and minutes, providing administrative support, greeting visitors at the Borough Office and answering and responding to calls and emails. This part-time position (approximately 30 hours per week) reports to the Borough Manager. Though assignments are often carried out under supervision of and at the direction of the Borough Manager, independent work and working with other Borough staff will be required. The employee is expected to learn standard Borough operations without constant direct supervision after gaining a working knowledge of the expected protocols. Work will be necessary in the evenings to attend Borough Council and/or other public meetings. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three years of experience in an office environment, preferably in local government; computer experience with Word, Excel, and emailing; excellent verbal and written communication skills; a strong ability to multi-task within established deadlines and work independently; personal integrity; be professional, courteous, and friendly in dealing with the general public.  For more information on the Borough of Topton, go to www.toptonborough.com.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
1. 3 years of work experience in the administration of municipal or public entity with increasing responsibility in planning, organizing, and directing administrative services preferred.
2. Excellent communication skills and experience in meeting facilitation.

Pay Rate
$14-$18 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
