Update on the TASA (sidewalk) Project
The Borough knows that many residents have been curious as to why work has stopped on the sidewalk construction around town. Progress on the Topton TASA (Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside) project that is installing sidewalk along Callowhill and Weis; and installing a trail North from Weis along Toad Creek has been stalled for several weeks as site conditions were found that require the installation of additional drainage. The pedestrian trail, sidewalk, and curbing configuration are being modified along Weis Street near the parking lot entrances to Topton Community Park to accommodate the revised drainage and provide more space for landscaping features along W. Weis Street. Look for the Contractor to re-start work in the next couple of weeks.
Even though progress has been delayed on this project, our Topton Public Works crew has been hard at work doing a plethora of other projects around town. Hopefully you’ve seen the progress on their latest project, the repaving of Oak Alley. A big thank you to our neighbors, Longswamp, Rockland, and Hereford Townships for their help in the repaving project!
